Dog Parks are great, but be careful

So we started taking Kona to Locust Point's dog park to change the pace from the Laurel one. No dirt to fuss with after play time and no strange glares from non-pitbull educated dog owners (Baltimore folks definitely appreciate the breed a bit more). We have driven by it numerous times since we use Sobo Doggy Daycare.

We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Sobo Doggy Daycare. Kona went for an evaluation and it had been a month later that we actually took him and they knew our rockstar from the moment we walked in... Name and all. No kidding.

Anyway, it was just nice to see how easily Kona takes to a new place and new dog friends (not that it's ever been difficult for him to make friends) and enjoy a place that has a KIDDIE POOL!

A word of caution... To those that have yet to try Locust Point it is asphalt so summer mid-days are not best but otherwise it's awesome. Kona and I learned the hard way. We had gone some time the end of May when it was just starting to heat up outside. Kona played and played until he could no longer. I thought he had cramps and didn't notice until we arrived home. He had a little bit of heat blistering on some paw pads, but healed up in a weeks time. Some Butter Balm from Bark! and he is all good now!

He also knew how to cool himself down... Now if only he could share pool time.

  1. Just came across your blog after you left a comment for us over at Pittiefullove... it's a shame we never met at the LP dog park! We took knox there a lot when we first got him. I'm completely amazed and humbled that he inspired you. It brings tears to my eyes that he's been able to influence your life. It helps me to know that a part of him will always live on with everyone who's come to know him, in person or through the blog. Thank you.
That Kona is a handsome little dude!
