RIP Lennox

I guess there's a reason they put "warden" at the end of Dog Warden. Some day I will understand an institution that is put in place to help the very ones that they are assigned to.

I understand that pit bulls are illegal in that part of Ireland and though I'm trying to justify it I can't... The court ruled and "so be it" despite the many appeals from around the world.

My only issue is now this.... How could you let a creature do gentle be put to sleep without allowing his family to say goodbye?? No one no pit bull deserves to die alone. He may have known he wouldn't be going home but at least let him know love... If even for a brief moment. I am Kona. And I am Lennox

Weekends are great for.....

This past weekend was extremely HOT. Even Kona didn't want to go out. We live in a 3 story condo, but that didn't stop us from breaking out the personal kiddie pool to let the pup cool down. He's a strange one, our boy. He didn't want to lay down if the water was cool, but after it sat out in the sun for a few hours and warmed up he flopped right down.

After getting his tan, he decided he needed a nap. Those are the best moments of the weekend; laying in bed cuddled right next to lover boy. I don't even mind the pibble snores.

Dog Parks are great, but be careful

So we started taking Kona to Locust Point's dog park to change the pace from the Laurel one. No dirt to fuss with after play time and no strange glares from non-pitbull educated dog owners (Baltimore folks definitely appreciate the breed a bit more). We have driven by it numerous times since we use Sobo Doggy Daycare.

We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Sobo Doggy Daycare. Kona went for an evaluation and it had been a month later that we actually took him and they knew our rockstar from the moment we walked in... Name and all. No kidding.

Anyway, it was just nice to see how easily Kona takes to a new place and new dog friends (not that it's ever been difficult for him to make friends) and enjoy a place that has a KIDDIE POOL!

A word of caution... To those that have yet to try Locust Point it is asphalt so summer mid-days are not best but otherwise it's awesome. Kona and I learned the hard way. We had gone some time the end of May when it was just starting to heat up outside. Kona played and played until he could no longer. I thought he had cramps and didn't notice until we arrived home. He had a little bit of heat blistering on some paw pads, but healed up in a weeks time. Some Butter Balm from Bark! and he is all good now!

He also knew how to cool himself down... Now if only he could share pool time.

Where has the time gone?

I do apologize for the delay in blogging. I haven't quite found my flow with this world yet. So much of nothing has been happening other than a HOT start to summer. Maryland has not been to dog-weather friendly as of late so we have been busy trying to keep our Kona boy cool. I'd say we're not doing too shabby of a job.
